Michael Blake - "What Tau Sounds Like"

Have you ever wondered how to play a mathematical constant? On 6 different instruments? Beautiful.

Funkadelic - "Can You Get To That"

Doin' it live and gettin' down in 3D, it's a party on the mothership. Heard this in a Diplo mix and realized it's the sample from Sleigh Bells "Rill Rill". The original is great though, enjoy the funk.

Amp Live - "Video Tapez (Feat. Del the Funky Homosapien)"

I've never been a Radiohead fan, and I don't know why. However, this remix of "Video Tapez" by Amp Live is too good. He put out a whole tape of Radiohead mixes a while ago (Rainy Dayz Remixes), but this is definitely the gem from that collection.

Defiance, Ohio - "Bikes and Bridges"

I had forgotten all about these guys until I went on an Against Me! binge and put my ipod on shuffle the other day. Fucking awesome folk punk. They play everywhere, constantly, all the time, check their website for tour dates as well as their new album 'Midwestern Minutes', which you can stream for free here.

Cassius - "Toop Toop"

An old and really catchy song by Cassius. More important is the awwwwwesomely edited video made from an old Soviet film circa 1969 called "The Bremen Town Musicians". I can't read Russian, so for now this unnamed web designer will simply be called nilov. He's done videos for Mr. Oizo and Justice as well, check out his youtube account for more great work.

R.I.P Random Hero

You will be missed.

Go home tonight, have a beer and watch Haggard.

edit: This is morbidly ironic. Dunn just finished making a film called 'Living Will'. The tagline?

Music To Know Festivus

These gosh darn long-haired, free dancing music festivals keep sprouting up every other day. This is MTK's first year, and they've already got a pretty impressive line-up, providing a great excuse to call-in sick and party in the Hampton's for the weekend. Everyone wins.

Featuring:
Tom Tom Club, Vampire Weekend, Bright Eyes, M. Ward, The Naked and Famous, Young Empires, Tame Impala, Chromeo, Ra Ra Riot and several other people who play instruments, sing and make music.

Phish - "No Quarter" & "Bold As Love"

Another summer, another summer tour. Phish isn't generally known for their covers being true to form, but these are by the books. So far this tour has been amazing, every show has been on par with New Years. They absolutely killed it last week at PNC, and again this weekend in Camden. Zeppelin and Hendrix classics, with a twist only Trey & Co. can provide.
Paige Side, Rage Side.

Phish - "No Quarter" (PNC, NJ 6-1-11)

Phish - "Bold As Love" (Camden, NJ 6-10-11)

Grace Potter and The Nocturnals - "White Rabbit"

Grace Potter may as well be Grace Slick for the duration of this cover. 4-minutes doesn't seem like nearly enough time, but The Nocturnals do this song some serious justice. Below is the cover from a few months ago (3/26/11) in Providence, RI.

One of the best covers I've ever heard, "Cortez, The Killer" during the All-Star Jam with moe. at All Good in 2007. Featuring Grace Potter on vocals. Fucking haunting. The rest of this show is equally incredible, check it out for free here.

moe. - "Cortez, The Killer (ft. Grace Potter)"

Seapony - "Dreaming"

Good music to skate to. Relaxing low-fi that sounds like what would happen if Cloud Nothings had a sister.

Arcade Fire - "Speaking In Tongues ft. David Byrne"

A new single from Arcade Fire. It sounds exactly like what you'd expect from a collaboration between these two meticulous musical machines. 70% Arcade + 30% Byrne = 100% good things.

The Ark - "Breaking Up With God (Drop Out Orchestra Rework)"

Reminiscent of the Clash and Rancid and also the 80's, with a few choice vocal samples and a lot of great beats. Both The Ark and Drop Out Orchestra are from the land of Swedish Meatball's. This is that sunny day driving song.

Charles Bradley - "The World (Is Going Up In Flames)"

I can't think of a more appropriate song to sponser this year. Off of Charles Bradley's new album 'No Time for Dreaming' on Daptone Records, he is soulful to say the very least.

Charles Bradley - "The World (Is Going Up In Flames)"

The Weeknd - "The Morning"

Daamn slow jams. First it sounds like a Santana lick, then one may recall R. Kelly as the vocals start, or perhaps jj when the beat comes in all syrupy and slow-like, but it's just some group called The Weeknd and they're real smooth.

Of Monsters and Men - "Little Talks"

Back sometime when it was cold and snowing in New Jersey, Reykjaviks own Of Monsters and Men released this song. Whenever I think of Iceland, I immediately think of either Sigur Ros or D2: The Mighty Ducks, so it's nice to hear something new from the area. Anyways, This song is too catchy.
