"I'm talking quietly so I won't wake myself up..."
This is a new mixtape from The Avalanches, courtesy of their youtube channel. The man responsible is Bukowski's alter-ego, Henry Chinaski. Thank you to Pinchy & Friends for this, and check Clash for rumours on the new album.
In preparation for the beginning of my last exam week, Ed Banger just offered up Busy Pedro's mix from HARD 2012, recorded live at Grand Central. The first 15 minutes of the show are in HD below.
If you're in the greater Winter Park area, it's gonna be a good one. A) Sam Sparro is playing at the Social on Friday, 17th. B) The 7th Annual Jambando Festival is free and at the Plaza Theatre this Saturday, and C) Saturday night at Tanqueray's is the RJ Harmon & Co. CD release party, which is also free.
If you like food trucks, good beer and listening to people play instruments- Saturday is your day.
Celebrate by streaming Groove Cereal's first E.P before it's release on May 17th- it comes with a side of fresh Dead-Mow-5, titled "The Veldt". This will be on repeat all night.
BBCRadio1 just played Treasure Fingers great new remix of Ladyhawke's "Black, White & Blue", Theophilus London teams up with A$AP Rocky, Bart B More remixes "Paddling Out", and Bill Murray takes the boat out with Dr. Gonzo. Not a bad afternoon.
NY-Native dBerrie opened Cosmic Opera a few weeks ago. I enjoy his live mixes much more than his remixes, and this one is strung together perfectly. A great soundtrack to an hour of CoD on a rainy, day-drinking afternoon. Also, I highly suggest downloading it before the limit runs out.

This past saturday, Rollins College hosted WPRK's 60th Anniversary party. The station is central Florida's oldest in basement radio, and just recently got it's license renewed after a lame FCC battle, and managed to get the funding to keep on playing the beats. So there was much cause for celebration, and some of Florida's best bands were jamming on the lawn.
Plus, Shipyard Brewery set up a keg on the lawn and we got $5 Export Ale's alllll day long.
Hundred Waters These guys occupy a really cool space somewhere between traditional folk music and electronica. Synth-folk? They have beautiful voices and simple percussion, it's easy to get hooked. Listen to the whole album for free above.
Laney Jones Is apparently a Rollins student, and she plays an excellent Banjo. She played at Bonaroo this year, as well.
Yip-Yip By far the most interesting band to play the festival was Yip-Yip. I felt like I was coming down from something for their whole set- it was very confusing, but I still liked it. The duo plays a shitload of analog synths and things I couldn't identify, as well as sometimes a saxophone. I heard from an inside source that they really like pizza, which would have only sort of explained the costumes.
Beebs & Her Money Makers I saw these guys & gal open for Galactic a few months ago and was blown away at how awesome they were. Jazz-funk-ska-dance-hip-hop that won't let you stop moving.
We'll make this simple. Send me a picture or video of you getting down at an EOTO show, and in exchange you will be entered to win A FREE TICKET to the Athens, GA show on April 6th.
That's right, it is that easy. (If you don't have a picture or video of yourself, you may submit a very good reason.)
RULES: Send to theskatemonkey@hotmail.com with title "EOTO CONTEST". Please include your full name, your hometown, and a reference photo of yourself so I know you didn't just pull some shit off of google (if you're submitting an image). Contestants will be evaluated by a panel of judges to conclude who is most fit to attend the April 6th show. There can only be two winners, and they will be announced by 9 PM on Thursday the 5th.
Heck yeah! Just in time for the sunny days, Edward Sharpe and his gang released this single from their upcoming album, 'Here', out May 29th. I had somehow forgotten how much I liked them, but now I remember perfectly.
I'm going to make you an offer you can't refuse. In preparation for EOTO's spring Bass Invaders Tour, the kind heads at Rockstar Digital have sent over a free, exclusive track from EOTO's new live album. For the low, low price of your e-mail address, you can grab "Zuskim" here before the album drops. If you've never heard of the Duo, now is a great time to listen up. EOTO is comprised of one part Jason Hann and one part Michael Travis (both of SCI fame.) This project is nothing like their previous explorations, and represents an entirely new direction towards heavy bass, glitchy synth and constant improvisation.
In addition to great free beats, the other exciting news involves their ridiculous new stage setup, dubbed 'The Lotus Stage', which you can marvel at below.
If you live in Florida, you best be coming to Wanee later this month. Travis & Jason will be playing the womps on the 21st of this lovely month, along with some other great acts. Check it out and grab the free track below!
